A Sunland Renaissance-era mortar emplacement artillery set featuring a wide short-barreled mortar war machine, four individual crew figures, and an optional gabion barricade fortification with scatter terrain accessories.
The mortar is constructed as a wide short-barreled cannon with a thick heavily ringed muzzle and a wide flared cascabel, mounted at a fixed upward angle on a heavy iron-banded timber platform base with wide plank decking, iron corner bracket hardware, and a large spoked elevation wheel mounted at the side of the carriage.
The four crew figures are each wearing plain padded coats or plain wool coats with wide leather belts and heavy boots: a hooded figure wearing a deep pull-on hood and a plain coat, standing in a wide stride with both arms cradling a large round cannonball held at the waist; a wide-brimmed hat officer wearing a plain wide-brimmed round hat and a long plain coat, standing in a wide stride with both arms gripping a long straight rammer or sponge staff with a wide cylindrical head held diagonally across the body; a plumed helm sergeant wearing an open-face burgonet helm with a small swept feathered plume crest and a fitted coat with cross-body equipment straps, standing in a wide composed planted stance gripping a tall spontoon or halberd with a broad axe blade and top spear point held vertically at the shoulder; and a bare-headed figure wearing a plain coat and a wide leather belt, crouching low beside the mortar in a wide bent-knee stance with both arms extended forward working the firing mechanism or adjusting the elevation of the barrel.
The optional gabion barricade fortification includes multiple large wicker gabion basket cylinders filled with packed earth with individual wicker weave detailing and upward-pointing stake tops arranged in a wide encircling perimeter around the mortar platform, with additional scatter terrain accessories including small wooden powder barrels with iron rim banding, loose piles of round cannonballs, and a small wooden bucket or tool rack, all sized for standard 28–32mm scale compatibility.
